Chicago 2nd Amendment Freedom Rally (pics)

I went to the first one held last year after the 2nd Amendment ruling by the Supreme Court. It was a good turn out last year. Of course, Suzanna Hupp was one of the speakers. She wasn't there this year and the crowd seemed a bit smaller. Still, there was some good energy. I'd guess there may have been 300-400 people in the crowd at any one point. It was worth leaving work early to add to the number. I'll make a second post with more photos (saving the best for last) and add some commentary.

OK, I saved the best for last. Right at the perimeter of the crowd, standing right on the sidewalk with his brothers in Christ, wearing shirts and holding signs in protest of our real "common sense" rally was none other than the good Reverend Pfleger. Sound familiar? It should. He's the racist reverend without a mirror from the Church of Obama.

He was pretty much not saying anything to anyone. He wouldn't make eye contact with any of the pro gun crowd at all. I did see a few men in nice suits walk up and shake his hand. There were at least 6 cops standing near him at any one time and, believe me, they were on his side. A black SUV came and picked up him and his crew. Before he left, each of the officers shook his hand, smiled, and told him how nice it was to see him. They did not extended the same courtesy to anyone else. :bawling:

Here are some more photos. I'm the tall one behind Pfleger with the bandana and sunglasses. Just to clarify, the man hilding the sign that says, "Forgive them, Father, for they know not what they do", was actually pro-gun. The arrows on his sign looked like they were pointed at our signs. They should have been pointing down at the Reverend. Anyway, good times......

Oh yeah, and the reason many gathered around the Reverend with our sings was in case the Tribune decided to show up and take some photos of him, they'd have to get pictures of us too.

WTF is with the "48 other states can't be wrong"
You should not need a permit to carry a tool, compromises weaken your position. (not attacking you, just observing the pictures)

Did you pro-gun activists attempt to share and exchange ideas with the anti-gun activists?

How did it go?

Did you find any common ground?

Did you get to understand each others viewpoints?

Are they really just plain crazy? Or just uninformed? (I was uninformed once)

Ha! Look up "Reverend Pfleger" on YouTube and tell me what you think. As far as exchanging ideas, there were only 4 anti-gun people there. Because the Reverend was one of them, the officers wouldn't allow us to "pester" or "antagonize" them. I was witness to one officer chasing a guy off who was being very civil toward the Reverend.

I think when church leaders get involved in politics, they should lose their tax-exempt status.

Did the media even cover this event? Did they cover it with their typical prejudices intact? - as in: "A bunch of right wing extremist gathered today. . . . . . "
